Aeneid translation? or any other?

I have heard keats translated Aeneid in prose, when he was 14. I could not find it. Could someone put a link to it or write down some small passage, I am very interested. Also show if you have some other translations made by keats. I am dying to see.

I'm afraid the translation has been lost to history, it no longer, to my knowledge exists or has been published.

Keats only other known translation is his translation of a Ronsard sonnet:

Well I'd recommend several great versions of the Aeneid - Dryden in the 18th century, C.Day Lewis in the 20th and Robert Fagles in the 21st century.

Thank you, but, no, I know them, plus English is foreign for me, and it is hard for me to read large things, so I read only original smaller works in English (Still waiting for any translation of Endymion (or day when I will know enough English for it. It is torture to have Poem in one hand and Dictionary in another) There is a translation, but only 2000 books published AND in another country, which is blocked for me, so... there you go)


By the way (only trivial note), the language I read books on has a better translation of iliad than of Chapman, the translator worked 20 years or so on it, it is one of the best translations of Iliad, it reads as if it was made of golden bricks of dactylic hexameter (with no rhyme, as the original) but it also reads as hard. You might not notice many facts, if you are not concentrated as an archiologist. Yet I do not know german translation (I have just started learning it), of which I've heard praises. I am also planing to learn ancient greek (with six more languages of classical world literature) to know the greatness of the original.

Which language did John translate Aenid from? I thought he wasn't fluent in any other languages.

He did know Latin. I remember reading, that when he realy got interested in poetry, he had forgotten latin quite a lot, only remembering what he needed for medicine and he restarted learning it, along with start of italian (Boccacio he read in original, though with much work) and I am quite sure he knew french.

Thanks for that- I thought he didn't know much french as he was annoyed at Fanny Brawne talking in fluent French to French men!
