KEATS ON T.V.!!!!

Postby Saturn » Wed Sep 29, 2004 8:47 am

While scouring the T.V. schedules I came across a programme about Keats.
For those in Britain and Ireland, on the Sky Network, it's Channel 157.

It' s on Artsworld (damn it, you need to subscribe to it!!!) tonight at 10pm.

It's called 'Keats' Last Journey' and will be hosted by the Poet Laureate, and Keats Biographer, Andrew Motion and a team of academics and critics as they follow Keats last journey in 1820 from Tower Bridge to Napoli.

If anyone can recieve this channel and is able to watch it, could they tell us about it.

It's not often our hero is on screen (well sort of - I'm still waiting for a drama - documentary to be made - who could play him??).

Perhaps whoever it is that has subscribed to it could tape it? And send it to us! I've been waiting for a programme on Keats for ages. Its sure to be interesting.

Damn it! How frustrating that not many people (that I know anyway) would have Artsworld. Damn it Damn it Damn it!

I'd give money to have a copy of that.

Surely, you guys can pull some strings to get somebody to record it? Somebody with a satellite dish and a dvd recorder would be nice..

I live in america so there is no way I could watch it

I just thought I would post on this thread since the three of you had so everyone would be represented

on a strange side note

I passed this hobo today, out of nowhere he said, " Pangea will return soon"

and I yelled at him for about two hours after that

Pangea - isn't that the theory that all the continents were once joined together in a huge land mass called Pangea?

I've seen diagrams of this and it all seems to make sense - it's like a massive jigsaw puzzle.

That hobo has a bit scientific knowledge!!!

No chance of anybody I know having seen it - sorry about that.

It's so annoying - no wonder that most people think poetry is elitist and pompous if the only people who can see things about it are subscribers to an obscure satellite channel.

I think a mini series or something should be made out of Keats's life. It was a tragic romance, to be sure. *Le sigh* If only all men were as eloquent in their expressions of love as he was!

Some men do take pride in eloquence, even today, so don't give up hope - we are out there you know!!!

And what a comfort that is! I think you Europeans have stolen most of them, unfortunately!

Not neccessarily - some Europeans are becoming too Americanised and losing their identity slowly but surely.

No kidding! I want to become a pop culture ambassador in Europe to stop all production of American music and clothing there! I prefer European music, clothing, sitcoms, art . . . men (what? who said that?) . . . to America any day. Europe is a beautiful thing.

Don't get me wrong. I feel blessed to live in the USA. I just wish that instead of Europeans copying us in these areas we copied them!
