Hi everyone,

I do hope you will all forgive me this indulgence but I have just been given what looks like a rather interesting book from my late great aunts estate and was wondering if anyone with a superior knowledge than my own might shed some light for me.

The book in question is called "Keats Poetical Works". It is green with a swirly maroon interior jacket cover and inside there is what looks like a signed engraving of Keats, a memoir by Lord Houghton, the date of 1879 and it says "second edition".

Hard to believe I was going to bin it with a ton of other old books and junk, but a good friend suggested that it might be worth something to a collector or Keats enthusiast.

All suggestions much appreciated.

I have some books from the 1800's and there were many Keats books done in that period. Your 1879 book value depends upon:
1) rarity of book
2) condition of book
3) markings in book
4) any signings in book
5) who is buying the book

Hard to tell from your description - but if the pages are clean with a tight binding, it would fetch anywhere from $25- $90. I have seen books like this sell for about $40 on average on eBay. Depends on the factors above. Hope this helps.
