Here's an interesting article. The gallery in my home town has one of the paintings!

John....you did not live to see-
who we are because of what you left,
what it is we are in what we make of you.

I see two Keatsian paintings every week- it's great to see how he has inspired great painters! :D

the pre-raphaelites worshipped at the altar of keats. they are largely responsible for bringing him back to popular consciousness. i love alot of pre-raphaelite art, especially burne-jones.

this quote of burne-jones is like the mission statment for all the dreamers of the world:

"I get frightened of indulging now in dreams, so vivid that they seem recollections rather than imaginations, but they seldom last more than half an hour; and the sound of earthly bells in the distance, and presently the wreathing of steam upon the trees where the railway runs, calls me back to the years I cannot convince myself of living in."

just beautiful.

Edward Burne Jones painted the Briar Rose folk tale - one of them (an unfinished version) is in my city art gallery. I like the quote. :D
