Keats Pics

I remember long ago we had a thread filled with artists' representations of Keats. . .don't know just where it went to so I'll start another thread here for the purpose of posting artists' renderings of Keats :)

Here's one I found that I haven't seen before. Supposed to have been done by Severn, but I don't know. . .doesn't really look like the Keats *I* know ;) but anyway, it's interesting. When you click the link, go to the drop down menu and choose "Severn, Joseph" and then click "search" and you'll find the painting of Keats that is attributed to him.

No I didn't mean you

I meant for those who couldn't be bothered looking for it.

So what's your opinion on this reputed portrait?

Actually, I was talking about those others who couldn't be bothered looking for it, too :) (I was too lazy to post it for all others to see when I first came across the pic.) Guess language got in the way yet again!

My opinion is that it is *not* by Severn and though it might be Keats--it looks more like it could be a cousin of Keats, but not the man, himself. Though he does have that "look in his eye"--he seems very young. . .maybe 18 or 19 years old. And kind of naive (which, OK, Severn kind of drew naive looking portraits of Keats. . .) but there's something not quite Keats about it, you know?

It looks rather more like George than our John... :?

Just looking at Severn's other work and his other pictures of Keats I would highly doubt this is by Severn and that it is supoosed to be Keats - it is not his style of painting and the portrait shows no real consistency with any other known images of Keats.
