Events at Keats House- Spring/Summer

Postby Raphael » Tue Apr 20, 2010 2:32 pm

There are some great events coming up at Wentworth Place over the coming few months:

How I wish I lived near this house- I'd be there regularly.
John....you did not live to see-
who we are because of what you left,
what it is we are in what we make of you.

Me too- I live up North, so it's a long way for me- but I lived near the house I'd be there a lot!

Yes, Raphael, you certainly have more opportunity to see Keats House than we Americans do--I live some 5,000 miles or more away from the house. It makes for a pretty expensive visit!

I know how you feel, harvest; when I was fortunate enough to visit Keats House in November, all I wanted to do was take a seat and soak it all in. I could have *easily* sat in Keats's sitting room for the complete 4 hours the place was open! But, in deference to my traveling companion who, though she sympathized with my Keatsian tendencies, would have been bored to tears waiting for me to come out of my meditative trance--I only stayed about an hour and 15 min. Definitely not long enough! Especially when I only get to visit the House once every decade-and-a-half or so.

I shall be in London hopefully next month, and am considering making another visit myself, in warmer weather and just sitting in the garden soaking it in as you say. Hampstead itself is a lovely quiet place compared to most of London, I'd love to take a stroll on the heath which I didn't have time for last time.

I may as well do- as the train fares from up north to Hampstead are more than my weekly unemployment money.
