A man has killed his friend in an argument about whether poetry or prose was better. Investigators say a drunken literary dispute led to a 53-year-old former teacher, who preferred poetry, killing his friend with a knife.

How bizarre!

Back in the day they probably would have a duel about it, gloves in the face, gauntlet thrown down etc.

A very strange thing indeed in these times!

How very Pushkinian [if that's a word] of them.

I read about this in the paper. Awfully sad.
This past summer, when I attended a poetry forum in a small college town, the class participants would get together in the evening, drink wine and argue about poetry. The exception was that we had loads of fun.
