Seen any good movies lately? (Despite Hollywood's effort!)

I was just reading past topics, admiring the past hateful rants against hollywood and the desensitized public that is entertained by drivle, and I thought that I should get in on this. I just saw a great (foreign to me) movie called "Joyeux Noel" (Merry Christmas), and wondered if anyone else had seen it, or liked it if they had. Also, more movie suggestions are greatly apprieciated. Netflix is pretty cool, I have to say

I can't remember the last time I was at the cinema.

It's too expensive.

There's usually films I'd like to see out every week but I never get around to going and its no fun on your own anyway.

Speaking of foreign films, I saw one at a film festival a few months ago--a French film, but the English translation is "The Russian Dolls" which I won't even try to spell in French  Anyway, it is a GREAT movie about young people in a changing Europe. Most of the movie is in French, but some of it is in English. It follows the romantic twists and turns of Xavier, a young French writer. There is a LOT of great humor in the movie as well as some poignant, thoughtful commentary about life and love. I highly recommend it and you can purchase it on DVD through

The last movie I actually saw in the theater was Casino Royale and that was this past Wednesday. A new theater opened up near by and to raise money for the VT families they had dollar movies. I just thought I'd mention that considering the above mentioned movie is already out of theaters. Anyway, as strange as this sounds, I was really impressed with the introductory graphics. The actual movie was good, not great, but good. Then again, I'm a pretty big Bond fan, so the movie could've been horrible and I would've still found something redeeming.

Not much for blondes, but for Daniel Craig, I think I could make an exception.

Last foreign film I saw was an Asian horror film called Three Extremes. It was interesting but not really my cup of tea.
