Resurrection

Oh, my forum--how I miss thee.

Finishing this was like a drug--it's the first since January.

Resurrection

the sounds of you glaze my concern
like chocolate drops on a salty tongue-
flood of thickly sweet-
anointing each bud and groove,
every utterance biting into remembrance

my retention relentlessly
hoards your adages, bottles your strains-

folds them into keepsakes, chest of sibilants-
like a mourner busy with relic things-
boxes them inside my head's hollow,
marking a mass grave of replies

the stroke of your speech
can issue from the lip of petals,
or retch from lyric eruptions-
searing like a charge that burns

what happens to your words when they die?

they are buried only for a time
before their palaver corpses swell
into specter homilies reiterating-
out of the coffin of my mind
"I am certain of nothing but the holiness of the heart's affections and the Truth of Imagination."

Dear dks, holed up there so long in that palladian room of yours with your chocolate drops. You must be something special to have created something so very special, something otherwise so hauntingly out of reach and inexpressible. Everything you bring to these pages is marked by that gentle courtesy of a gifted soul; allied to love.

The mere fact that anyone would put me in the same sack as gifted is more than I deserve, certainly...thank you graciously--thank you for even taking the time to read it.
