War Dance

Postby moonflower » Mon May 17, 2010 10:09 pm

you cast your tribal eye
down to the side
and pulled along the length of the space
the space your gaze made

and spoke your florid mouth
spiraling wild words
my gold thoughts unfurl
and wrap around the whimsy of your morning mind
wake up

the flowers finally bloom from your florid mouth
as I catch your tribal eye
and linger through the wandering sigh
my mourning eyes wondering

flap your wings now
in the war dance crumbling
I lost the lines now
of your war dance crumbling

I love this poem! Though I may be way off on where your poem is 'going', the juxtaposition created by describing one's disenchantment with the "war dance" using enchanted words and phrasing ("florid" was a brilliant choice) is very effectively ironic.
