Admission

I have been up to my eyes with busy since starting a new teaching job at a local high school charter academy, also teaching three college classes at night, and all the other things in between...you can imagine how sustained I felt after getting this finished (whether you call it poetry or not!) amid the huff and hurry.

Admission

there were days
when the sun was diluted, the moon bloodless, bone white—
spirit sopped up the drudge like a sponge,
heart everywhere
dissolving on tongues like a pill

I had to chase the in-between of afternoons,
pry off the lid of peculiar nights
to keep miscellany from bleeding through the beauty

let them say
“she sped full on ahead”—
left a slag of debris in my wake,
or
“her agonies and joys did all her thinking”—
the pipes in my head
choked with lees, dregs of dreams—
fugitive whim running home

but
my innermost room was level square,
hiding my secret conjunction of planets,
my own steady splendor surprise in time
so—
let it be hacked in a crag of stone:
“she finally married reality—
to its vagary lover sublime”
"I am certain of nothing but the holiness of the heart's affections and the Truth of Imagination."

Always a pleasure, and now, these days, an even rarer delight to read anything of yours Denise. Thanks for sharing it with us.

 Thanks for reading as always, good man. I will always try to make sure I get back here...albeit after bursts of absence...it's just life, is all...a bit like a speed train at the moment for me-all good-just all go.

I'm glad your busy, and enjoying it, fighting the good fight etc. You're always welcome to drop by here anytime when the tide ebbs a little.
