Ode to Autumn Mist

Postby MuseAloft » Sat Oct 30, 2010 5:43 pm

Howling winter dare not disturb,
And the frost dare not perturb,
The delicate footfalls of ye
Acrost the tender, moonlit glade
In the shadow of the slender trees,
Lonesome in the shadows, afraid,
Cold now since the summer’s end
And aching from the brittle bend
Of every frozen branch, and wincing
From the frost’s cruel pinching –
And yet, warmed somehow by thee,
Comforted by the downy softness,
Aye, like a remnant of beloved spring,
Keep each lost soul from hopelessness,
Blur the roughness of this path; sing
A song of comfort and, when ye leave,
Shedding soft tears upon the morning grass,
Dear one, do not grieve-
For winter too shall pass.

Delightful. "Shedding soft tears upon the morning grass" - reminds me of the Indian Maid poem. Lovely. Thanks.
