Sabotage

Sabotage

You were your own hindrance,
Stuck the spoke in your wheels;
Derailed, and brought yourself
Your own undoing. I held the
Reins and tried to keep you
From the ditches you lay in
Your own distracted path.

You were the sole saboteur,
The evil genius of your own
Demise while, bewildered
I held my hands, protesting
Even as I held you in arms.
I looked on as you turned
Your head and pushed me
Away, and I walked far
When you told me to leave.

To claw back now, to return
You begged, in contrition like
A penitent. A flagellant could
Not have scarred your back as
You branded your heart - Mine
Was an open book, waiting to
Rewrite the third draft right
This time, but your haste and
Your thumbnails gouged out
My will and left us a wreck.

Whoa...this is powerfully beautiful...I can identify.

Thank you Denise your own poems that you posted inspired me to take up the pen [or rather the keyboard these days] again.

You both write very interesting poems that make me think and feel in patterns that are uncommon for me. Thanks for saying what I sometimes think. Saturn's poem hits close to home for me these days.
"Come... dry your eyes, for you are life, rarer than a quark and unpredictable beyond the dreams of Heisenberg; the clay in which the forces that shape all things leave their fingerprints most clearly. Dry your eyes... and let's go home."

Wonderful, Saturn.
