Evermore

(Not quite done yet, but close...)

Evermore

Heaven's in sight
And the timing is right
To take flight on the wings of a dream

Though if Heaven was Hell
Lost before us and fell
And those wings came apart at the seams

Like a phoenix we'd rise
While burning the skies

--C----------C
Of Evermore

--------C7------------C7
Yes, we'd know the score
-------F---------------F
But not care anymore
---------------------Fm
Where a wish becomes reality
------C-----------G7
On that wide, eternal sea
G7
To the fabled isle

--C------------C
Of Evermore

--------C7-----------C7
Yes, we'd find the shore
Without a trace of war
Where laughing sapphires dance on the sand
Smiling, there, you'd take my hand
In that not-so-distant land

Called Evermore

Yes, we'd open up the door
Reach it's highest floor
Watch the green flash as it streaks across the sky
Could be you and I
On our quickened way

To Evermore

For any one who cares about such things, I'm writing this poem as a song though the music isn't quite completed yet for the first three paragraphs due to the difference in meter.

To start, it's a 4/4 ballad in the key of C with a tempo of 72bps. I've put the chord letters directly above the connected lyric starting with the first lyrical hook "Evermore" to help with the timing of the last half of the poem's lyrics. The hook is also accentuated with a set of three single notes ("D-C-C") repeated over each of the two C chords, then another set of three ("E-D-D") over the two Cm chords, and so on. I hope that all makes sense but let me know if it doesn't.

Great so far - yes you should finish it! Good imagery there. Is it for guitar?

Thank you for liking it so far & I sincerely appreciate the thoughtful input. Still trying to figure out a fitting progression for the first two verses so thanks also for the friendly nudge to keep going at it.

And you guessed right: this and most all of my poems/songs were made for guitar. However, to me 'Another Day' and this one don't seem to lose any context (if that's the right word) when I'm messing around with their melodies on my keyboard while its ACMP plays arpeggios of the chords. :?:

One last thing: I do have some videos on YouTube of me singing/playing three Jethro Tull cover songs ('Look Into The Sun', 'Nursie' & 'Wond'ring Aloud') which I think are not too bad. If you're at all interested, you can find them under my username "g-stormcrow". I'll be adding 'Another Day' and a couple more JT songs in the near future.

Thanks Again & Best Wishes!

Well keep at it! I have a piano and make horrid noises on it.
