The Doppelgänger — Reflective eyes; Ponded-sky

In the river mist,
Just beneath it and above
Floats the ponded-sky.

The spiral time-ripples of the surface
Emanate from ancient water,
Which present the gleam of reflective siren-eyes.
(Yet so drowned are those who press a finger to the pond and pry)

Within the floating steam,
The eyes arise and they sink;
The buoyancy of their demeanor,
Near constant in the heat.

If she is to ever know the face
That stares deeply, past her soul,
The mixing of water and of clay
Erase all that which is whole.

So gone is the reflection,
And the body in itself.
A sublime awakening of the perception,
That we are ever far from ourselves.

I like this very much.

"Yet so drowned are those who press a finger to the pond and pry" is a wonderful line.

A very visual and vivid line.

Aww, thanks. Glad I didn’t take that line out, although I pondered it. This one is a poem based on a poem I wrote months ago
