Nothings

Nothings

your words assault my tongue
like the surprise tide of pulp
from the bottom of lemonade

I wish I could taste your name
all day long
say it thickly with a mouthful of cherries

brilliant oils
from your patient head—
smell of soap, linseed blanched in streams
your dry-spun skin of garden air and august sun

where is the beautiful sight
of you?
lines, angles, corners, edges
faint parted smile
hands like bone china
play everything

listening to you
is like the memory
of a timid church— its bronze bells
pealing under a jasperware sky

I think
you have hung your hat on my senses
built a strong abode inside my head
and let multitudes of nothings
pass you by

This is, as ever, breathtaking dks.

I particularly like the opening:
your words assault my tongue
like the surprise tide of pulp
from the bottom of lemonade

If I could even conjure up images like that, never mind write them, I would be a happy man.

Excellent work.
