In Between

In Between

waiting
on the edge of the next while
the split of seconds blurred,
whirred together on the lip of minutes,
anticipant scratch of diamond on vinyl,
foretaste as sweet as the melody

just as winter sky
begins to warm over the horizon,
bruised from blows of evening color,
occasions chipped, moments chiseled
for more same daily arrangements

what of that divine in-between?
just before certainty pirates tomorrows
there are whispers from the open, pitch mouth
of vicissitude—
soft, sacrosanct roar

i wait on a fine threshold,
next blueprint of breath just within reach,
for an aim at re-design—
to rifle, alter
the mold, cast, and hollow of time

Thank you, kindly, BL. My classes are going--so hard to get back into the groove after a holiday break!

Hope the teaching is going well dks. I marvel that you find time to, and are able to write such great poems as this. Don't forget us here when you have the time :!:

Thank you for this poem dks. It's a remarkable, profoundly poetic achievement. You lead us step by musical step into the very depths of the heretofore inconceivable "divine in-between". It is as if you have taken us by the hand to a time and place previously unreachable. Your time and place becomes ours, and it's beautiful.

Thank you, graciously! I am just reading your response...sorry for delayed reply. I'm famous for that at the moment in life, though...anyway, you know, I just read my poem again and I still feel that edgy "mmm, something isn't quite right" feeling about it all over again...very irritating, that. But you are very kind!
