A new one I wrote...hope all is well with everyone...

Lepidoptera

When you brush my dusty ells,
To lull these jittery lobes,

I wonder whether you know
You flummox further
The pegs and grooves—

And make them
Breathe still more wildly.

Your bridling swabs
Only light the blood
In my scaled veins,
Iridescent,
On the pad of your
Anchored palm—

Until it barely takes
A scanty breath,
To thresh me into
A blanket coupling,
And all out, unhinged
Flutter.

The only reason we didn't reply was because we were gobsmacked - caught by the wonder, the strangeness and the violence of your words Denise, we're not neglecting you!!

I second that, Saturn. I must say, people who have the gift for writing are put in a high place in my "book" and you have that gift, dks. I'll also be honest and say that all you folk who write poetry or music stir up that somewhat jealous wish that I, too, had that kind of creative ability. But I am happy to be a lover of art--thanks to you all who produce it :)

You're both too kind--especially since I was fishing for responses!! The shame. You're encouragement means the world to me...without poetry, I cannot breathe.

I know, I know...

I used to be like that...

I wish I had that passion for writing still, or ANY passion still but I've become too cynical and world-weary in my old age.

I've been having a mid-life crisis since I was 19 :?

Anyway that's a particularly Irish expression I used "in me old age" is something people of all ages say :D

Frankly, I don't have time or energy to have an all consuming passion  Just give me chocolate. . .and I'm satisfied.

Yes...all of us are passionate about Keats--aren't we?? I mean the knowledge we all have put together is pretty damn impressive--I, for one, tell everyone I know that you are all Keats scholars.

Scholar? Not I! I consider myself to be hep on Keats trivia . . .and that's about it. I couldn't lecture on Keats's poetry, but I could rip through Jeapordy category about him! ;)

Far too modest Miss Malia :?

From the stuff you've posted and all those books you have, I think you've FORGOTTEN more than I've even learned about Keats
