Another

And another is your desire
And another you'll look to,
And another will be your man
And another will be my enemy.

And another will hold you tight
And another will kiss your lips,
And another will feel your breath
And another will steal your heart

And another I cannot even see
And another I don't even know
And another much better man
And another time and place.

And another broken heart
And another vale of tears
And another wish for death
And another is alone again.

I do like the litany, Stephen--it reinforces that immediacy trait you have so mastered in your work...very sad, this one...but great...

It is trash, pure trash.

I hate it.

I should never have posted it.

I've written so much in the past few weeks but only posted a select few, and now I realise why.

The holes in the sieve are too big.

They are all in the same vein, all this gigantic mass of emotions, perturbed, imprecise - I'm flailing I really am I have no control, no judgment when I write :?

That is patently untrue, Stephen. Your poem is great--the litany is a much used literary device by many famous poets (think Plath and Yeats).

I oftentimes wonder why you don't realize your own talent, when we all see it clearly on here. :?:

You are too kind as ever.

This poem is alright, just that.

I go through phases of really hating everything I've written, then phases of pride.

I was in a hatred-zone last night.
