John's Tea

Postby dks » Thu Aug 16, 2007 5:21 pm

I was certainly inspired...

John’s Tea

county murmurs ebb
robin’s skittering hesitates
Molly swallows a last bit of carrot nip
fox darting in the meadow marsh
slows and listens

hushed by a blanket dusk
slapped against Rathmore lane
bogs breathe and wait

for the steam
from the kettle on the forge
in Jacqueline’s kitchen

while somewhere
floods rise
bridges break
sacrosanct war infects primeval ground

an unknown Bundoran legacy
resuscitates the work-a-day world
earl and lotus leaves
steep in dregs of jealousy

set places for all-father, and the battle goddess
here come ghosts with sugar spoons from Innisfree
for an evening’s salvation—
a cup of John’s tea
"I am certain of nothing but the holiness of the heart's affections and the Truth of Imagination."

Once again

I have no words to describe how much I love this Denise

I can picture it all now in my mind -

A bucolic rhapsody.
"Oh what a misery it is to have an intellect in splints".

Thanks, Stephen...you're kind to me. But I tell the truth--that John Keenaghan can make one helluva cuppa tea.
