Wrote this last night.

Woolgathering

there is deliverance in running water.
streambed tumbles over caked bristlegrass
creek current makes the bulrushes clean, tender

patter and spray of my shower in this heated room
Like so

there is pardon in dipping, rinsing, laving
keep the oil deterged in the fleece

there is no blotting out muddied design
smeared notion
sullied conjecture
sodden premise

or any one drift of You—
a grand postulate, a stunning hunch
our uniform history

I can only be eased
to lay down hard the church of my mind
on this cradle shrine

let sleep and verve redeem me
my lathered maverick reason bowed
to a downy sham

not before I emerge from the tub font
a raked blanched shorn lamb
"I am certain of nothing but the holiness of the heart's affections and the Truth of Imagination."

As usual Denise you astonish me

This is sublime stuff as we've all come to expect from you.
