Sprite of Deville

on a walk down Deville
hours before the rising of a brandywine moon

I saw her
in a tatty hannah belle dress
sullied small stocking toes—

it was the broken flagstone side of Deville

he pushed her severely
in a red bucket swing
back and forth

her mustard hair splayed
like dandelion clocks
her ecstasy in giggles thick as honey
each lilt and measure wrenching cherrybark switches

if only he hadn’t busied himself
so focused on my retriever—
raking his barely blue heather shoots

he’d have noticed his fay really could fly

on the last launch
two viceroys rich yellow as agave blooms
lifted her over his blackened roof
into the goldenrod sky
"I am certain of nothing but the holiness of the heart's affections and the Truth of Imagination."

 As ever Denise your work is majestic, making the commonplace as poetic as the myths.

Words can never express my admiration fully.

**seethes jealously**
"Oh what a misery it is to have an intellect in splints".
