Here is one I wrote yesterday...it sums up my feeling right now!

Crushed Beneath Loves Falling Bough.

Down they came the petals fair,
Gliding gently through the air.
Pouring perfume of pure delight
Out into the darkening night.
And when all had fallen upon me
There was nothing above but memory
So here I lie, alive somehow
Crushed beneath loves falling bough,
And faint whisperings come through the air
Delighting me in my new despair.
A beacon in the starry sky, this man so dazzling
did not fly from here in a chariot of gold,
but left our world on a melancholic wing
and fled the sorrow that makes men old.

A stranger asked about my global views
he wished to speak of politics and sought
a converse---but I said "I must refuse
until LaRouche approves my every thought"

Keats is a dreamer...

Postby ObsceneMinstrel » Fri Apr 15, 2005 4:01 pm

Hi everyone!

Poetry has always been something I've appreciated but never explored so I've just recently discovered John Keats. He's a very youthful, romantic poet, which is incredibly refreshing these days. While I myself regretably am not much of a dreamer I feel there's a lot to learn by enjoying Keats. Every time you read one of his poems it seems like you recapture the bits of youth that seems to be slipping off every day. :)

And I've been enjoying reading everyone else's poems very much! You all take very beautiful directions when you write about love and life, it makes me sigh with relief to see so many people with so much emotion and freedom in their hearts. :) My favorite so far has actually been the first one that was posted, about folding your money... at the surface it seems like just a joke but I walked away with a lot of meaning; That, basically, the things that tie us down these days are nothing more than an illusion, a problem we create for ourselves as a society. Once you can fully realize that and surpass it true life can open up to you. I'm not a spiritual person but that's pretty deep if you ask me, for a 'funny' poem. :)

So anyway, here's something I wrote. Oftentimes I have trouble writing anything because I never know how or what to write about! It's probably a bit bleak for posting on a John Keats board but it's just how it comes out of me I guess. Without further yapping from me...

"From Life to Death"

Awake at last
A stretch and a yawn and we're away from here
Into the cities and towns we have learned
Smoke pours from the chimney of our living room
The television glows discreetly
Everything is guaranteed fresh and the prices are reasonable

But it only takes once
A summer evening or a winters day
Perhaps a bird flies overhead and sings its song
We notice that all we have is suddenly gone
And a record skips on a distant stereo system

Suddenly the trees don't bend to shade us
Their leaves rustle harshly and without tune
Our skin is thick and dulling
Our eyes are wet with fear
We clasp our hands together but they are no longer warm..

Awake for hours
The muscles in your neck feel like rusted iron
Smoke pours from the tip of my cigarette
We creak and moan like the draft in our house
We communicate via cellular phones

So now I shiver from morning to night
From life to death
Are we nothing but bulbs on some spectral billboard?
If we burn out do we get replaced?
I shudder and pull out of the driveway
You might sleep but you will never dream.

A heart touching poem!

Postby Starlight » Sat Apr 16, 2005 2:47 pm

hi ObsceneMinstrel,

imaginative, mystical & thought provoking.

these are three words i can use if i want to praise your poem. but obviously anyone can't really sense rather truly sense the sentiments & feelings a poet/poetess has embedded in his/her poem.

keep posting such creative stuff based on the current scenarios of the world.

Love for all.

I wrote a funny lyric last year some time, can't remember it all now but the first verse went:

Literary Lizzie will not be the same again
she was took by lots and lots of literary men

Poem

Nothing special happened today.
I stood, dumbstruck, at the awe of it all.
"He Stood in His Shoes and he Wondered
He Wondered
He Stood in his Shoes and He Wondered."

The Ocean Still

Pre: [Crushed carpet fields aflame with apathy,
Corroded ceiling miles ringed with the residue of echoed self-apologies]

Post: [Charred silence perfumes into recycled thoughts,
The wake agitates anti-action impatience]

Why when lounge,
Insistent stillness seeps up from coffin ground,
Soft soak down the peaceful seas of flood-scape sound.
Seductive sloth sinking -
Stasis sin spin into a put-off paradise mirage.
Force it fit formula flaws
Drown distant disinfection.
Sane and safe above the flood-lite cascade.
Stay dry why when lounge,
So loiter lace the chase down.

Why when loiter lace a chase down.

Love Always

Postby soumya » Wed May 25, 2005 7:13 am

I'm your morning hummingbird
hovering in trancelike winds
around the sweet-smelling rose
of your radiant heart glow,
sipping the sweet nectar of your love.
I'm nourished and sustained…
I'm in flames with whirling galaxies
of undivided ecstasy…
I am drunk and collapsing
as I press my long slender beak
deep into the luminous petals of your heart
to sip the ecstatic flowing currents
of your shining being.
Dance with me under this soft moonlight
in the wide open garden of daffodils
far beyond the toil and trouble
of my busy mind and the sweet chill.
Dance with me before the night grows old
and the wind of love bows the flowers.
Your body is now my universe,
Alive…blushing, with streams
and rivers of love...and only love...
always love…
love always…!!
