I read Tony Harrison

Good idea.

Stop, rewind the spool
I never called life futile, fool

or something like that is a good thing to keep in your head at such moments, as are bits from the bible. When i'm really  music annoys me, but good poetry barely ever.

'I never thought life futile, fool!'

A verse from the above-quoted poem, if anyone does need cheering up is

The sperm in one ejaculation
equals the whole Iraqi nation

...I can't believe you just posted that. What an appalling display of bad taste.

And it wasn't bad taste bombing all those Iraqis into oblivion then!!? I don't want to sound too political but it's true.

Tony Harrison is here to shock!

Hi,

i think rehan we should not discuss these sad stories of injustice (though they are true) rather we should relieve our minds here.

Hope u'll get my point,

Love for all.

P.S. Its basically not the right place to discuss all these tragic truths.

True, I just thought the verse was kind of ironically amusing the way he put it. As "Da Posh Muse of Forest Gate" would say: aaaaaaaaanyway :D

Wtf are you talking about? You do realize that what you posted can't possibly come out so well to anybody who hasn't read the rest of the so-called "poem"? (and you call this guy a poet?) Since I haven't read it, I'll give you the benefit of a doubt that maybe that snippet is suffering from a lack of context. Not that I think any context or noble intents in the world could render it other than gross. Just....don't post inflammatory stuff.

this'll surprise people but to soothe my mind tonight I have mostly listening to the new Bruce Dickinson album

Heavy Metal is as strong and influential as poetry to me - it's an aural version of Milton, Blake and Dante.

Well that's what I convince myself - actually it's just great to turn it up, annoy the neighbours and play air-guitar to(though I can really play too).

Music that's dumb, but great fun :D :D

It's from 'A cold coming.' A poem commissioned to be written. It describes a conversation with a charred Iraqi. Beautiful poem.

I usually write and listen to music. I find that writing really helps.

KoRn

Postby KoRnyChik » Wed Oct 05, 2005 8:56 pm

KoRn actually soothes and calms me believe it or not! When i get angry, it helps.

Pick me up
Been bleeding too long
Right here, right now
I'll stop it somehow

I will make it go away
Can't be here no more
Seems this is the only way
I will soon be gone
These feelings will be gone
These feelings will be gone  YEAH!! now that's poetry!!
