Looks like another spambot member

You guys have no idea how many of the members registered are just spambots - I keep deleting them but there's more and more each day.

And sure enough if you check the link on that profile it's spam - a car company with a car called saturn

Oh! Saturn's actually a pretty big auto maker in the US. Test-drove a used one when I was looking for a new car a few years ago. It was noisy. :P

Spambots would be about a million times more effective if they actually paid attention to who they were spamming. . . because obviously we're the sort of people here who buy into that crap.

Is there any possible way you can filter those users out automatically, Saturn (that would be you, not the car  )?

I've done all I can do - the one thing left is to disable user account activation.

At present if you register you fill in the registration form and you are sent an e-mail woth your account details and account activation details.

If I disabel this I will be able to block those spambots becaue I will recieve an e-mail telling me that duch-and-such a user wishes their account ot be activated and I will be able to determine if they are spambots or not.

The down side of this is that it may confuse or deter new users if they have to go through a complicated proceddure to join the forum. Also it is a kind of screening process.
