This one broke a small dry spell...

Postby dks » Tue Jul 11, 2006 5:14 pm

I haven't written in a short while...I'm glad it was this one that sort of snapped its fingers at me and woke me up a bit...this one is, indeed, from the 'heart.' I just wanted to share it with some of the very best people I know...

Mine

Some have hearts
That are muscles—
Oily fibers,
Meanly bearing air
And blood.

While others'
Are the tempo
Of their spirit,
The very lilt
Of their soul.

Mine is rather
Like the surface properties
Of the moon—

Waterless, mostly,
And cratered good—
Beaded with glassy
Globes and drops
Made by the impacting
Bang
Of some savage
Shooting star.

Hey that's pretty, dks. Thanks for sharing it. I like the use of "surface properties." It's stark, and it announces to me that something pretty is about to happen.

There it is. That Irish charm. Ridiculously flattering, you are regarding my poetry...I always fear it is fledgling...
